Prof. Sourav Pal, Head of the Chemistry Department at Ashoka University, is a renowned theoretical chemist known for contributions to electronic structure theory, chemical reactivity, and computational materials science. He previously served as Director of IISER Kolkata and CSIR–NCL Pune, and as Professor at IIT Bombay. An alumnus of IIT Kanpur and Calcutta University, he has held postdoctoral and visiting positions in the USA, Germany, Japan, and Poland. A recipient of major honors such as the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize and SASTRA–CNR Rao Award, he is a Fellow of INSA, IAS, NASI, and the Royal Society of Chemistry. He has published 300+ papers, supervised 45 Ph.D. students, and authored Mathematics in Chemistry.
